Wunderkamera
This body of work is inspired by photographic theory, the history of photography, and the significant cultural and artistic importance of preserving the photograph as a beautiful object. The pieces below represent photographs sculpted into objects and juxtaposed with their real-life counterparts. I am interested in the way that we have culturally viewed photographs as pieces of reality and the language we use to describe the photographic object.
I use only traditional photographic processes as I believe digital technology, as a result of its connotations and applications, has degraded the validity of a photograph as a document of real life.
